Women Build Here
More women are choosing the trades every year — and roofing has room at the top. Here, you'll find training built for everyone, a crew that has your back, and a paycheck that's identical to the person working next to you. Today about 4% of our apprentices are women — and we're actively working to grow that number, starting with you.
Same contract. Same scale. Same career.
Under the union contract, apprentice wages are set by schedule — women and men in the program earn identical scale at every step, from $28.21 an hour at entry through $47.01 at journeyman. Equal pay isn't a promise here; it's how the contract is written.
Women in the program
“I feel a freedom in being capable and able to do the work I do.”
— SUZANNE YOUNG, 6 YEARS IN THE TRADE
TRY IT FIRST
Try the trade at our June workshop
Every June we host a hands-on workshop just for women — come swing the tools, see the training center, and talk with our female apprentices and journeymen about what the work is really like. It's a friendly, no-pressure way to see yourself in the trade.
Built for real life — and real leadership
A program that works with your life
Life happens, and the program is built for it. If you're injured or become pregnant, you can place your apprenticeship on hold and return when you're ready — your progress and status wait for you. If you move, your hours and coursework transfer to programs in other states. You never start over.
Where women lead
Women here aren't just on the crews — they run them. Our members include women foremen, safety directors, and maintenance and repair supervisors, and shop-steward roles are open to anyone willing to be involved. Come to class, learn the trade, know your reps, set a goal — the ladder is the same for everyone.
